Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Worries.

'Major setback' for England after Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.

The English seamer added to the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the field during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The touring camp indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time away from the action in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The series decider of the tour in Sydney begins at the end of the week.

The visitors have already lost key quicks one seamer due to knee trouble and another paceman because of a side injury during this series.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming during the first two matches, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was omitted from the previous Test, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.

Surrey's Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he resumed the next day and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of the fifth over, he bowled a slower ball to the batsman and immediately felt for his hamstring.

The English bowler returned to the side for the fourth Ashes Test having missed the Adelaide game.
