Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
