Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician has been charged with committing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
