Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has passed away aged 24.
The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round of the draft in 2024 and appeared in 18 games for the team, with four starting appearances.
He recorded his initial touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys stated.
"Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after playing college football for Western Michigan.
His representative, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the loss of the athlete who "gave his all" into each opportunity.
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL said it is "profoundly grieved" by the news.
