American performer Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to media reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his family stated in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable TV Career

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted online.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
